My food-related book
This
time, I will introduce my food-related book that I chose in my university
library.📚
The book that I chose food-related book is 100 million years of food.
It is a nonfiction book and not only introduces the history of foods but also includes the author’s experience through traveling around the world.
The author is STEPHEN LE who is a biological anthropologist. He studies food, health and human evolution. The happens that his mother died from cancer and his grandmother was eating the way her ancestors. These happens inspired him to research relationship between diets and disaster.
This
book is organized each chapter focus on a different type of food for example
fruits, fish, meat and so on. Also, he tells us how our diets and lives have
transformed over millions of history and how we can return to a sustainable and
healthier way of eating.
From
reading first chapter, I learned insects were part of diets in some countries
both of now and past. Historically in Vietnam, insects were increasingly
omitted from cuisine because of influence of French and America. On the other
hand, Thailand was never completely overrun by a European so they are
successful retaining their tradition.
Therefore,
I found this is the most interesting point that how culture influence what we
consider normal or strange to eat.
I just read only first chapter yet but, I'm excited to learn more about food :)
Thank you for reading!
